Lillie Ruby Schulz Brown, 97, of Douglas was born in Henryville, Minnesota
on July 10, 1897 to Frank and Anna Marie Couglin Schulz, and passed from
this world on Sunday, February 19, 1995 at home, south and west of Douglas.
She attended Possum Trot school east of Bison and while a young girl she
cooked for the threshing cook – shack. In 1915 she married Joseph Martin
Brown and 10 children were born to this union.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Brown who maintained the
family home for his mother until his death in 1988 and Joe Brown. She was
also preceded in death by two infant daughters, and three brothers and three
sisters.
She is survived by six children: Anna Brown who cared for her mother at the
family home, Maxine Sadler, Perry, Betty Ham, Stillwater, Herbert and wife
Patsy Brown, Glencoe, Elizabeth and husband Royce Baker, Waukomis, Victor
Brown, Douglas; 21 grandchildren; 42 great – grandchildren; a sister Edna
Valtr, Douglas and Jeanne Johnson her comforting caregiver.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21, 1995, 2 PM at Henninger –
Allen Chapel with Rev. Coy Donakey officiating.
Interment will follow in
Lyon Valley Cemetery,. Memorials may be made to Christian Union Church at
Douglas with the funeral home serving as custodian.
