The funeral for Rex. G. Witt, 85, will be 10 a.m. Friday at 132 Bible Church, Hennessey. The Rev. L. D. Choate will officiate. Burial will be in Hennessey Cemetery. Arrangements are By Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.

He was born Oct. 28, 1920, east of Hennessey to Bert Raymond and Letha Naomi Cain Witt and died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at his home.
He graduated from Hennessey High School in 1938.

He married Jean Betty McGee Oct. 30, 1940, in Kingfisher. He farmed for five years before serving in the Army in World War II. Following his discharge he owned and operated the Sinclair service station in Hennessey. He worked at Farmer’s Elevator and be-came manager there. In 1973, he worked for Hennessey Auto Supply, retiring in 1983. He was a retired member of the Hennessey Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Betty of the home; two sons, Jack Witt of Dover, and Mike Witt of Hennessey; one stepbrother, Max Ludwig of Saginaw, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five stepbrothers and stepsisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hennessey Senior Citizens Center, Hennessey Firefighters Association or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, heart, Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s division.
