HENNESSEY - The funeral for Harold G. Welborn, 98, who died Dec. 16, 1991, at
Enid Regional Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cordry and Son Funeral
Home. The Revs. Steve and Renee Bridwell will officiate. Burial will be in
Hennessey Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 23, 1893, in Todd County, Ky., to James H. and Laura Welborn.
On June 29, 1918, he married Bernice Richardson. She died in 1969.
On June 25, 1972, he married Ruth Richardson. He was a veteran of World War I,
serving as sergeant in Headquarters Company 85th Infantry, 18th Division. He was
a member of First Christian Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Hennessey
Country Club. He had begun work as a railroad telegrapher at age 17 and retired
in 1958 as railroad railway station agent in Dover.
Surviving are his wife, one niece, Laura Thurmon of Russellville, Ky.; one
nephew, Bill Shelton of Wichita, Kan.; and one sister-in-law, Ena Welborn of
Ozark, Ala.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
