Thomas Warren “Tom” Tarrant was born June 27, 1936 in Orlando, Oklahoma to Floyd and Katie (McCracken) Tarrant. He passed away February 25, 2014 in Guthrie, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 29 days.

Tom graduated from Lacy High School in May 1954. After graduation he was a ranch foreman at Paradise Valley Ranch in Lacy. Tom then joined the United States Army in 1959 and was Honorably Discharged in 1961. He worked as a brick mason until 1976 and then started building homes until 1979. In 1980 he began T&L Drilling and operated that business until 1983 and then drove a truck for several years. Tom began Trace Oil Company in 1993 and it is still operation today. Tom enjoyed fishing, basketball, and drag racing. He held several NHRA drag racing world records with his 1963 Shelby Cobra, which is now retired in a car museum in Ohio. Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Tracy Tarrant and wife Kara, Tara Snowden and husband Tyler, and Katie Fisher and husband Matt; one brother, Loren Tarrant; two sisters, Bobbie Arnold and Stella Nipper; grandchildren, Jett, Gunner, and Ace Snowden and Rylan and Kinsley Fisher.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joyce Pemp, and by two brothers, Ben and Max Tarrant.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Hennessey with Rev. L.D. Choate officiating. Burial will follow in the Hennessey Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
