John was a Lacy High School graduate, class of 1947. After marriage, John and Colleen established a Holstein dairy farm they operated for thirty-four years. John began farming when he was ten years old until retirement at age eighty-four. He was a good steward of the land producing wheat, alfalfa, corn, sorghum, and mung beans through the years. John kept farm machinery running with innovation and creativity, finding special uses for baling wire and duct tape. He loved nature and was an avid quail hunter. John and Colleen enjoyed playing pitch with friends, chocolate, Country Western music, and holding hands on the porch swing watching sunsets.A graveside service will be held at
Hennessey Cemetery at a later date.
