George W. Higgins, aged 79 years, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, at the home of his  son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Townsend, northwest of Hennessey, after  an illness of dropsy that covered a period of several years.

Funeral services were held from the T. L. Townsend home, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Rev. W. Kuntz conducted the services and burial was made in Hennessey  cemetery. 

George W. Higgins was born in Sullivan County Mo., May 24, 1850.  He was married to  Elizabeth May Young on Feb. 4, 1871.  Four of the children born to this union survive:  Mrs. E. R. Arnote, Fairview, Okla.; F. F. Higgins, Oakland Calif.; C. E. Higgins, Modesto, Calif.; and Mrs. T. L. Townsend, of Hennessey. 

He came to Oklahoma in 1900, locating near Isabelle.
