Leonard Benona Hamilton 88, pioneer resident of the Hennessey community, passed away at his home on South Cherokee Ave. Friday evening Dec. 27th, at 7:30 p.m. after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. at the Methodist Church , Internment was in the Hennessey Cemetery.Leonard Benona Hamilton was born Aug. 6, 1858 near Springfield , IL ( Perry County), to A. B. and Mary Jane "Nancy" Thompson Hamilton. He married Elizabeth Ann Townsend ( Lizzie) Feb. 15, 1883 at Rockport, Atchison Co. MO. Four children were born to this union, three boys and one girl.He entered into death Dec. 27, 1946 at the age of 88 years, three months, and twenty-one days.He was converted and united with the Methodist faith for more that fifty years. He lived a dovout christian life and was very loyal to his church.Brother Hamilton is survived by one son, Walter B. Hamilton of Enid; one daughter Nora M. Lindley Maddux of Hennessey and one half-brother, Clyde R. Hamilton of Brooklyn, NY and seven grandchildren and several gr grandchildren.Brother Hamilton had made his home in Hennessey for the last twenty years and he will be mourned by this family and friends.
