O. T. Corwin , 40 years of age , former resident of Hennessey, ended
his life at his home in Fairview , Thursday evening by hanging. He
left no note of explanation.
Fastening a rope securely to a broom handle, he had placed it across
an opening leading into the attic, fastening the other end of the
rope around his neck.
His 14-year-old daughter, Darlene, the only other member of the
family at home at the time, found her father's dead body dangling
at the end of the rope when she investigated after noting his
prolonged stay in the bathroom.
His widow and two daughters survive him .
Corwin was a former county treasurer of Major County and former city clerk of Fairview. He had been operating a paper agency immediately preceding his death.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Fairview Saturday. Rev. Roy Fields, pastor of the Maywood Christian Church of Oklahoma City, former pastor and friend of the deceased , officiated. The services were largely attended.
The body was brought overland to Hennessey for interment in the Hennessey cemetery.
His brother, Kenneth and Luther D Armstrong blew "taps" as the body was lowered into the grave.
