The funeral for Marvin Ray Cooper, 75, of Hennessey, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Hennessey. The Rev. Terry Bunch will officiate. Burial will be in Hennessey Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Red Rock to William L. and Lorene Bissell Cooper and died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Hennessey Care Center.
He graduated from Tonkawa High School and attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa for two years.He married Alta Brewster Feb. 5, 1953, in Ponca City. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was member No. 11,606 of Jaycees International.
Surviving are his wife, Alta; four sons, Dean Cooper of Oklahoma City, Alan Cooper of Enid, Terry Robert Cooper of Hennessey and Eric Cooper of Dover; one brother, Leon Cooper of Hennessey; two sisters, Coralie Manning of Broken Arrow and Wanda Gibson of Cedarville, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and two sisters.
