Services for J.R. Buford, 85, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 1, 2021, at Hennessey Cemetery Pavilion. Jimmy Berkenbile will officiate. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
 
J.R. was born at Lacey on January 6, 1936, to Orin J. and Blanche E. McGinnis Buford and died Monday, May 24, 2021, at his home south of Ames. 
He graduated from Lacey High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering. He was an Electronics Technician at Tinker Air Force Base for several years. 
J.R. married Dorothy Dupy in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they made their home on the farm. 

He is survived by one son, Robert Buford and Sherry of Ames; one daughter, Tammy Breed and Mike of Newalla; one brother, Clay Buford of Lacey; four granddaughters, Shannon, Sebrina, Rachel, Linzie; and several great-grandchildren.
 
J.R. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, and granddaughter Ericka Mooney Cook. 

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hennessey Public Library, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
