The funeral for Vena Dorice Bertrand, 70, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at
First Baptist Church. The Rev. L.D. Choate will officiate. Burial will
be in Hennessey Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home,
Hennessey.
She was born Nov. 1, 1935, in Semour, Texas, to Levi and Christine Price
Harris and died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Integris Bass Baptist
Health Center.
She married Merlin Bertrand July 28, 1952, in Aztec, N.M. She was a
member of First Baptist Church. She worked at Smith Trucking and later
started M&D; Trucking Inc. with her husband.
Surviving are her husband, Merlin, of the home; one son, Charles Dale
Bertrand of Lancaster, Texas; a daughter, Linda Gale Will of Hennessey;
one sister, Corrine Anderson of Eddie, Texas; two brothers, Eddie Harris
of Prescott, Ariz., and David Swan of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and a brother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to American Heart or American Diabetes Foundation
