Hennessey, OK
September 25, 1952

George Hudson Bailey, son of Tarleton and Elizabeth Bailey, was born April 24, 1860, in Platte County, Missouri. As a youth he moved with his parents to Kansas, where he grew to manhood, and in 1878 united with the Church of Christ. On January 9, 1879, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Dale. To this union were born 11 children, five of whom preceded him in death, Della May in infancy in 1895, John in 1920, Bessie in 1924 and Earl in 1951. (Didn't mention the Infant Son born & died about 1896). In 1889, Mr. Bailey moved with his wife and three children to Oklahoma and homesteaded a claim west of Hennessey, where he braved the hardships of those early years in a new country. He resided there until 1940, when he moved to Hennessey. After moving to Oklahoma, he and his wife placed their membership in the Christian Church, where it remained until his death. Always a Christian and a believer in his Master, he died as he lived, trusting in his Lord.

In April, 1936, Mrs. Bailey passed away after they had spent 57 years of married life together. In January, 1940, he was married to Mrs. Maggie Townsend.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of the home, two sons, Frank Bailey of Costa Mesa, California; I. T. Bailey of Dover, and four daughters, Mrs. Gertie Troyer, Mrs. Rose Grimes, Mrs. Maude Craun and Mrs. Inez Craun of Hennessey, and 74 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Tom Hutcherson of Guthrie, and a host of relatives and friends.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Pat Bolin and Sandra and Miss Audry Grimes of Oklahoma City; Mr. & Mrs. D. H. Brown, Norman; Mrs. Vearel Puckett, Kingfisher; Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Craun, Okeene; Mr. & Mrs.Claude Bailey & daughter, Blackwell; Geo. L. Bailey, Arnett; Howard Bailey, Dover; Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Smith, Thomas; Mr. & Mrs. Von Ludwig and family, Wichita, Kansas: Mr. & Mrs. John Cunningham & Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Craun and son; Mrs. Betty Kinnett, and Glenn Bailey, Enid and Mrs. Wayne Hauvan, Fairfax. (believe this should be Mrs. Wayne Harman).

Funeral services were held from the First Christian Church in Hennessey at 10 a.m. Sept. 11 with Rev. Hale Staley officiating. He was laid to rest in the Hennessey cemetery.
