Warren Lee McConnell went home to heaven on March 16, 2018.

Warren was born to William Warren and Geneva McConnell in Tulsa on August 23, 1937. He married his high school sweetheart following his high school graduation, and they were married for over 62 years. They’ve lived in Hennessey for the past fifty years. Most of Warren’s oil field career was spent working for Sooner Completions Oilfield Service. Warren was an active member of the Hennessey First Christian Church where he served as a deacon and on several church committees. He was also a member of the Hennessey Lions Club. Warren was a member of the DeMolay as a youth, and as an adult was awarded the DeMolay Legion of Honor as well as the Rainbow Grand Cross of Color. He served as Worshipful Master of the Coronado Masonic Lodge in 1974. He was a Grand Lodge officer for many years and was on several Grand Lodge committees. He had received the highest Masonic honor, “The Medal of Honor.” The Hennessey Coronado Masonic Lodge named the lodge room “The Warren Lee McConnell Lodge Room” in his honor. Warren was a 33º Scottish Rite Mason, a Shriner, a member of York Rite, and was a Past Patron of the Order of the Easter Star. At various times in his life, Warren enjoyed many other activities such as playing cards and dominoes, swimming, boating, reading westerns, and listening to country music. Warren love to watch western movies, oldie shows, and football. He was a die hard OU fan. He and Margie had traveled to all fifty states, all Canadian provinces, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Warren loved chatting about these adventures and their many cruises, especially the family cruises with their children. He also enjoyed the trips to Great Wolf Lodge with all his grandchildren. He was delighted each year to bring all family members who could come to the annual Shrine Circus. Warren was known as a dedicated family man.

He is survived by his wife Margie, son-in-law Rick Kerr, daughter Linda McConnell and Tom Backiel, son Wayne McConnell and Charla Ann, daughter Kathy Stegall and Gerald, and son Warren McConnell (Little Warren) and Jenni. He is also survived by twentyeight grandchildren, thirtynine great-grandchildren, his brother Ervin McConnell and wife Pat, his sister Paula Shelly, in-laws Richard and Pat Hancock, and Jean and Ambrose Demel, sisters-in-law Jody Langley, Jacque Eubanks, and Mary McConnell. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter Janice Kerr, brothers Sam and Kenneth McConnell and three brothers-in-law.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

His funeral was at 2:00 PM Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the Hennessey School Auditorium with burial at Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Cordry- Gritz Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the India Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
