Mrs. Victoria Hassler died Thursday, September 24, 1908, at 12:10 in the morning, at her home 9 1/2 miles southwest of Hennessey, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Hassler's maiden name was Victoria Murphy. She was born in Pike
County, Missouri, 18 October, 1863, and married August 11, 1885 to H. F. Hassler.
To this union was born six children. She is survived by a husband and five
children.
In 1901 she with her husband and children moved to Oklahoma and lived in the
Harmony neighborhood until her death. She was a faithful wife and loving mother
and her testimony was that there was no dark valley. She was not afraid to go.
Secure in her abiding faith, she met death calmly and without fear. True, she
has passed from sight, but in tenderest memory she still lives. In deeds of love
she arose above the dross of earth and caught the rays of heaven and in the pure
atmosphere beckons friends and loved ones to follow. Ever loving the right and
reproving the wrong, she came in tenderest touch with the divinely pure.
The funeral services were conducted at the Harmony schoolhouse Friday, by her
pastor, Rev. Webb, of Dover, Oklahoma.
The remains were laid to rest in the Harmony Cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
