A Celebration of Life Service for Joan Janet Beck is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carrell Still officiating.

Burial follows in the Dover Cemetery, Dover, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends 5:00-6:00 p.m. today, November 14, 2018, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

On Sunday, November 11, 2018, Joan Janet Beck, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 94.

Joan was born August 1, 1924, in Dover, to Frank and Alice Ruth (Lindsey) McClelland. She grew up with a loving extended family and was proud to call her sister, Betty, her best friend.

She attended and graduated from Dover High School in 1941. She met Maurice Beck and they were married on July 9, 1943, in Enid. They proudly raised two sons, Roger and Brad.

Joan worked as a sales clerk for Sears for 17 years. She made many long-lasting friendships at Sears and through their membership at Davis Park Christian Church, and later at Willow Road Christian Church. She and Maurice enjoyed 56 years together until his passing January 27, 1999.

Joan will be remembered and cherished as someone who loved her extended family and friends. She was an excellent cook and not only enjoyed hosting huge family gatherings, but was a superior and regular pie maker.

Her friends were important to her and she enjoyed a variety of activities with them throughout the years, including weekly domino games. Joan loved to sing and proudly shared her voice with church and other choirs.

She and Maurice enjoyed attending basketball games, especially Phillips, and she continued this fondness by watching our state teams on T.V.
Joan was a strong and determined woman, and a thoughtful, caring friend to the end. She had a grateful heart and a kind spirit; always making sure she had properly expressed her thanks. She will be missed by many.

Joan is survived by her sons, Roger Beck, and Brad and his wife Cindra Beck, both of Enid; two grandsons, David Beck and Brian Beck; three great-grandchildren; and Cheryl Beck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Betty Beeman.

Memorials may be made to Willow Road Christian Church or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimer's Division, with Ladusau-Evans as custodian of the funds.

Condolences may be made online and the service may be viewed online at www.LadusauEvans.com.
