W. B. Helterbrand, 79 died unexpectedly early Monday morning at his home, west of Bison. He had been in failing health for the past three years.
Mr. Helterbrand came to Oklahoma shortly after the opening of the Cherokee Strip and purchased a relinquishment which he proved up and lived upon till his death. He was a charter member of the Eden Baptist Church and served as a deacon at the time of his death.
Survivors included four daughters; Mrs. Hazel Martin of Kingfisher, OK; Mrs. Floyd Jennings of the home; Mrs. Vernie McKeever of Drummond, Ok; and Mrs. Clyde Grieve of Midwest City, OK; On son Albert Helterbrand of Drummond; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Bowie of Parsons, Kansas ; Mrs. Emma Albin of Warrensburg, Mo; and Mrs. Jennie Phillips of Leeton, MO and a brother. Amos Helterbrand of Leeton, MO, 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was also survived by 10 step children.
Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, in the Eden Baptist Church at Ames with the Rev. Paul L. Estes officiating. Burial will be in the Cimarron Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Guy Nelson, Anglin Bearman, Ernie Craun, Dale Wartick, Jim Albright, and Jim Sturgeon.
The Henninger-Allen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Amanda Goodpasture Helterbrand.
