Thomas Wade Smith, 74, of Blackwell, OK, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

Viewing will be held between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Trout Funeral Home.  

A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Church of Christ in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

A Graveside Ceremony will  follow at Cashion Cemetery in Cashion, OK, at 3:30 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Wade was born on March 23, 1951, in Ponca City, OK, to Eugene and Hazel (Blair) Smith. Wade graduated from Ponca City High School in 1969, and married his wife of almost 52 years on May 26th, 1973. He loved being a welder and retired after 55 years . Wade  also loved working cattle and riding horses and was an avid BBQ smoker and made the best brisket and ribs around. By far his favorite thing to do was spend time with his grand babies.


Wade was preceded in death by his mother and father, Eugene and Hazel Smith, and his two sisters, Marsha and Vicky; as well as his brother-in-law, Rex Hughes.


Wade is survived by: his wife, Cyndy; two daughters, Nikki Burdick (Toby) and Crystal Boler; six grandchildren, Hanna, Jace, and Josh Humble, and Alexa Murphy (Brandon), Darius Smith and Deshone Boler, whom he raised; nine great-grandchildren, Mia, Cora, Georgia, Callum , Stassi, Ava, Gianna, May’Riella and Emmett; and numerous nieces and nephews including, Destiny Williams (Josh), Kimber, Leo and Wayson, who also called him Papa.


Papa Wade was loved so much by his family and is already deeply missed.
