Linda Mae (Stone) Nelson, age 60, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away January 19, 2013 in Oklahoma City. She was born May 14, 1952, in Guthrie to Melvin and Mary (Griffin) Stone.

She attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Guthrie High School. She married David Nelson on March 20, 1970, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guthrie. They had lived in Oklahoma City for the past 34 years and previously lived in Cashion. Linda was employed by the State of Oklahoma in the Department of Education.

Linda loved to laugh, going to the lake, her dogs and cats, working in the garden and yard. She also loved helping others, music, reading and family get togethers.

She is survived by her husband David Nelson of the home in Oklahoma City, her parents Melvin and Mary Stone of Guthrie, two brothers, Marvin Stone and wife Elaine of Jones and Kenneth Stone and wife Sue of Guthrie, three sisters Wanda Calvert and husband Mike, Myra Richardson and husband Rodney and Donna Miller and husband Billy all of Guthrie. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Rick Nelson and wife Carrie of Midwest City and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Burial will follow at the Cashion Cemetery, Cashion, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make contributions to the charity of your choice.
