Services for Thomas Newton Cornwell, 94, of Guthrie will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Guthrie. The Rev. Dennis Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Cashion Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Born April 6, 1891, in Belle Plaine, Kan., to Alvin and Rachel Cornwell. He died Wednesday at Cole's Rest Haven.
Cornwell was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War 1. He was a member of the American Legion Post 58 in Guthrie, Masonic Lodge 74 in Cashion and was a member of the First Christian Church in Guthrie.
He married Bessie Hammond on March 25, 1925, in Guthrie.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Don Cornwell of Choctaw, Okla., and Warren Cornwell of Oklahoma City; one daughter, June Stone of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Guthrie building fund, the Cashion Christian Church, or the Masonic Lodge 74 in Cashion.
