HENNESSEY — Wake for Beval Nadine Walterscheidt, 83 will be 7 p.m. Sunday June 23, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday June 24, 2013, at St. Joseph’s. Rev. Joseph Arledge will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Nadine was born July 27, 1929, on her family farm southwest of Hennessey. She was the only child born to Georgia Alberta (Choate) and Herman Vernie Dixon. She passed away peacefully June 20, 2013, after 83 years of strong and courageous life.

Nadine was born in the Harmony community and spent most of her life living there, attending Harmony Church for many years. She attended Victory School District No. 27 through eighth grade. She also attended Hennessey High School, graduating in 1947.

On Nadine’s 19th birthday, July 27, 1948, she married Edward Walterscheidt at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hennessey. Three sons, Keith, Kent and Kelly were born to this union. They lived in the Harmony community until 1979, when they moved to Hennessey.

As a young mother, Nadine was homeroom mom for her sons, which allowed her to share her love of crafts and wonderful cooking abilities with many kids. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and embroidery. She was a wonderful quilter, making many beautiful quilts for family and friends. She collected peacocks for years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Altar Society and Farmerette Home Demonstration Club. She worked for the town of Hennessey from 1981 until she retired in 1994.

Nadine is survived by three sons, Keith and Shirley, Kent and Connie and Kelly, all of Hennessey; five granddaughters, Amy and Shelby Sawyers of Dover, Stacie and Andrew Simunek of Kingfisher, Christy and Jeremy Hladik, Georgia Walterscheidt and Mary Walterscheidt, all of Hennessey; and six great-grandsons, Dalton and Stanton Sawyers, Jakub and Nathan Hladik and Griffin and David Simunek.

She was preceded in death by Edward, in 1987, and by her parents.

Memorials may be made to Harmony Cemetery Association with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
