HENNESSEY - The funeral for John Vaverka, 71, who died Saturday evening at his home east of Hennessey, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cordry and Son Funeral Home Chapel.  The Rev. John W. Scheller will officiate. 

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Hennessey.

The casket will be open at the funeral home until service time and remain closed after the service.

Vaverka was born in Kratochvilka, Czechoslovakia, and came to the United States at the age of nine with his parents to a farm east of Hennessey.  He attended both the country school and the Catholic School.  On April 17, 1937, he and Antonia Skarkova were married in Bryan, Texas.  They made their home on a farm east of Hennessey.

Survivors include his wife, Antonia; one son, Ernest, Hennessey; two daughters, Delores Vaverka, of the home, and Mrs. Steve (Irene) Boucher, San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, sister and son.
