Prayer Vigil for Steve A. Shimanek, 92, will be at 7:00 PM Sunday, June 17, 2018, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian
Burial will be at 10:00 AM Monday, June 18,
2018, at St. Joseph's, officiated by the Rev. Ed Menasco.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, under the direction
of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
Steve was born east of Hennessey on August 18, 1925, to
Bohomill and Fannie Harak Shimanek and died Wednesday, June
13, 2018, at Hennessey Care Center.
He married Bessie Jane Peach in Hennessey on November 27,
1945. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St.
Joseph's Men's Club, the Knights of Columbus, the #1 Polka
Club, the Hennessey Powder and String Club, and the Oldies
Tractor Club.
Steve is survived by four daughters, Linda Zielny and
husband John, Carol McNally, all of Marshall, Donna White
and husband George of Enid; Janie Jackson and husband Mike
of Hennessey; eight grandchildren, Lezlie Hardin, Jason
Zielny, Lisa Newby, Kyle White, Lacey Kolich, Jeremy
Jackson, Amber Hames, Megan Wren; eight great-grandchildren;
four brothers, Bernie Shimanek, Richard Shimanek, Jim
Shimanek, Danny Shimanek and one sister Rose Ann Schovanec.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bessie;
one son-in-law, Tim McNally, two sisters, Alice Jones and
Betty Hudson.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Joseph's
Catholic Church, with the funeral home serving as custodian
of the fund.
