Mass of Christian Burial for Joe Sedlak, 82, of Hennessey, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Roberto Quant will officiate.Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.He was born June 8, 1924, southeast of Hennessey to Rudolf and Marie Vrska Sedlak and died Monday, March 19, 2007, southeast of Hennessey.
He graduated from Marshall High School and attended Oklahoma State University. He also attended Sam Houston State University while serving in the Army Air Corps. During World War II he flew 22 missions as a top gunner in a B-24. His plane was shot down over Yugoslavia, and he was missing in action for several months. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Euro-pean-African Service Medal and four Bronze Stars. He married Marcella Pacula May 31, 1944, in Hennessey.
