All About Hennessey

Recitation of the Rosary for Rose Ann Schovanec, 84, will be at 6:30 PM Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bison. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church, officiated by Rev. Edward Menasco. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Hennessey under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
 
Rose Ann was born east of Hennessey on August 7, 1939, to Bohomill and Fannie Harak Shimanek and died at her home east of Hennessey on Monday, June 17, 2024.
 
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
 
Rose Ann graduated from Hennessey High School in 1957. She married Virgil Schovanec in Bison on September 3, 1960. She worked at Hennessey Public Schools as a cook for many years.
 
Rose Ann is survived by three sons, Kenneth Schovanec of Hennessey, Douglas Schovanec of Oklahoma City, Virgil “Sonny” Schovanec of Enid; seven grandchildren, Noelle Barker, Kaitlyn Lungren, Nicholas Schovanec, Chelsea Schovanec, Trenton Schovanec, Jacob Schovanec, Jessica Schovanec; four great-grandchildren; three brothers Bernie Shimanek, Jim Shimanek, and Danny Shimanek.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil, two sisters, Alice Jones and Betty Hudson, and three brothers, Steve Shimanek, Ernie Shimanek, and Richard Shimanek.
