Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.
Brian was born in Enid, Okla., on April 27, 1965, to Dale and Carolyn Ross Newell and died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at his home in Marshall, Okla. Brian started his working career hauling grain for his brother-in-law, Rick Kokojan. A few years later, he bought his own rig and began hauling livestock. The time in his career he enjoyed the most was hauling rodeo stock for Mike Cervi Rodeos in Colorado because he was able to attend the rodeos and get in some riding time. Rodeos were a great love of Brian’s. He had so many stories about team roping with his buddy Mark Hadley and riding horses with David Cardin and Troy Musil. Brian fought his intense battle with cancer for a year and a half, never doing anything but looking toward the future.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Newell of Marshall; one daughter, Breeanna; three sisters, Brenda Kokojan and husband Rick of Waukomis, Glenda Bossa and husband Danny of Hennessey, and Sherri Pollard and husband John Mark of Enid; one brother, Darrell Newell of Perry; three grandchildren, Tyler Stewart, Josh Stewart and Conner Calton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father,
Dale Newell. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Ross
Hospice, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the
funds. (Submitted by family)
