HENNESSEY — Prayer vigil and recitation of the rosary for Elizabeth H. “Beth” Dinkler, 96, of Hennessey, will be at 7 p.m. today, April 12, 2012, at Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Joseph Arledge.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.

Beth was born Sept. 21, 1915, in Bison and died at her home in Hennessey on Monday, April 9, 2012. She was the fourth child of Joseph and Antonie Vaverka Pribil of Bison. She received her elementary education at the Catholic School in Bison, then transferred to St. Joseph’s Academy in Enid, where she graduated from high school. She also was a graduate of St. Anthony’s Hospital School of Nursing in Oklahoma City. She then worked as an R.N., doing private duty in Oklahoma City. She also worked as an industrial nurse at Oklahoma City Air Depot, now Tinker Air Force Base, and at Bendix Aviation in North Hollywood, Calif.

In 1942, she joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, serving in both Walla Walla and Ft. Lewis, Wash. Under the G.I. Bill, she attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, earning her bachelor of science degree in public health and industrial nursing. While attending college, she worked at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, which was the teaching hospital for all student nurses for pediatrics. Upon the completion of her studies, she was employed by the city of San Jose, Calif., as a public health and industrial nurse.

She married George Dinkler June 28, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bison, Okla. They made their home in Hennessey, where they raised two children, Joan and Frank.
