A graveside service for John K. “Jack” Buckner, 79, of Hennessey, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Calvary Cemetery, Hennessey. The Rev. Mark Mason will officiate. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.

He was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Tipton to John and Frances Hawkins Buckner and died Monday, May 12, 2008, at his home southeast of Hennessey.

He graduated from Dover High School and served with the Army. He married LaJeanne Hickey Dec. 28, 1955, in Hennessey.

Surviving are his wife, LaJeanne, of the home; three daughters, Teresa Oliver and Debbie Hardin, both of Hennessey, and Tanya Buckner of Kingfisher; two sisters, Leta Stitt of Dover and Elva Gill of Loyal; two brothers, Pete Buckner of Hennessey and Randy Buckner of Enid; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son.
