Tahagena "Gena" (Bowker) Warren
July 22, 1960 ~ August 20, 2022 (age 62)
On Saturday August 20, 2022, Tahagena Marie (Bowker) Warren passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
Gena (Nana) loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crappie fishing, camping, taking her grandkids out on the lake and watching them dance their hearts out at powwows. Gena was very proud of her Native American heritage and did her best to instill that same pride in her grandchildren.
She served Kaw Nation in various roles over the years, including terms on the tribal council, housing board, and 38 years as Human Resources Director for the Kaw Nation casinos.
Gena is survived by her husband Joe Dell Warren of Shidler, Oklahoma; son Jim and wife Merika Warren of Ponca City, OK; grandchildren: Kyleigh, Seth, and Little Jim (Jim Hin ga) Warren of Ponca City, OK; and brother Terry Darnell and wife LaVeta Bowker of Skiatook, OK.
She was preceded in death by her father James Darnell Bowker of Shidler, OK; mother, Betty Lou (Shelton) Bowker of Shidler, OK and various uncles and grandparents.
A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 5 p.m. -7 p.m. Kaw Nation Community Building Just west of Washunga Bay.
A graveside will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Washunga Cemetery in Newkirk, Oklahoma, followed by a lunch and giveaway at the Kaw Nation Community Building.
Casket Bearers will be Joe LeClair, Joe Thompson, Dewey Donelson, Hotan Man Yin, Jason Murray, Robert Allen, Thomas Peterson, and Scott Rennie. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Bill Schutte, Ty Bowker, Jared Bowker, Roy Ball Ray Ball, Frank Ball, Carl Ball, and Jimmy Butler
