A wake for Melvin S. Allen Sr., 76, of Tonkawa, formerly of Enid, will be at Tonkawa Tribal Community Center from 2 PM Tuesday until 12 PM Thursday, followed by a feast. The funeral will be 1 PM in Tribal Community Center. Burial will follow in Tonkawa Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dugger Funeral Home, Tonkawa.

He was born December 7, 1927, in Tonkawa to Paul and Zoe View Allen and died Monday, October 11, 2004, at Oklahoma University Medical Center, Presbyterian Tower, Oklahoma City.

He married Gloria M. Allen in July 1949, in Tonkawa. She died March 12, 2004.

Surviving are his three sons, Melvin S. Allen Jr., Charles Paul Allen and Samuel Joseph Allen, all of Tonkawa; five daughters, Joyce Marie Beard of Fort Worth, Texas, Tina Allen, Reba Allen, Eva Mae Allen and Stacy Denise Allen, all of Tonkawa; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great – grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sons, two daughters, four brothers, a half sister, and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Tonkawa Tribe of Oklahoma through the funeral home at 400 East Grand, Tonkawa, OK 74653.
