The funeral for Doris Louise Wetmore, 86, of Tonkawa, will be 10 a.m. today at Tonkawa Bible Church. Pastor Stuart N. Milligan will officiate. Burial will be in Tonkawa I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Arrangements are by Tonkawa Funeral Home, Tonkawa.

She was born July 20, 1921, in Tonkawa to John Cyril and Ruth Agnes Miller Warner and died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at her home.

She attended Washington Grade School, graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1939, and from Northern Oklahoma College in 1941. She attended the University of Oklahoma, then worked for John E. Boyer Co. in Ponca City making airplane parts during World War II.

She married Albert E. Wetmore Nov. 27, 1943, in San Diego.

She returned to Tonkawa, where she was secretary for two years for Wetmore Pulverizer and Machinery Co. She was active in P.T.A., served as Cub Scout den mother for six years, was a leader in Camp Fire Girls, and was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi in Tonkawa. She was a member of Tonkawa Garden Club for more than 50 years and was superintendent of the flower and plants department at Kay County Fair in Blackwell. She was a member of Tonkawa Bible Church, where she served as organist for 45 years and was a member of Women’s Missionary Fellowship.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Albert, of the home in Tonkawa; two sons, Alan Wetmore of Neodesha, Kan., and Duane Wetmore of Tonkawa; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister.
