Virginia Smith Lamb, resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 88.
Virginia was born April 21, 1922 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Kenneth Caldwell Smith and Vera Catharine Stone Smith. She was a graduate of Tonkawa High School and Northern Oklahoma College of Tonkawa. Virginia had worked 3 years in Washington D.C. during World War II prior to her marriage to Q.D. Lamb on October 21, 1945 in Tonkawa. She also had owned a shoe store while the couple lived in Little Rock, Arkansas. The couple also had lived in Hugo, Oklahoma and Midwest City, Oklahoma prior to moving to Ponca City in 1991. She had spent several years teaching Sunday school and was currently a member of Northeast Baptist Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and had made many clothing articles for her family. She also enjoyed painting, porcelain painting and ceramic painting.
Virginia is survived by her two children, Sharon Bokamper and husband, Danny, of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Neil Lamb and wife, Michelle, of Ponca City one sister, Catharine Veal and husband, Glen, of Tonkawa, and one brother, Larry Smith and wife, Barbara, of Winfield, Kansas four grandchildren, Brock Bokamper, Natalie Spoon, Britton Lamb and Austin Lamb three great grandchildren, Robert Brooks Spoon III, Hayleigh Renee Lamb and Jocelyn Paige Lamb numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband and three brothers, Olin Smith, Roger Smith and infant brother, Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Northeast Baptist Church with Pastor, Dr. Larry Nigh, presiding. Interment will follow in the Tonkawa I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be Britton Lamb, Austin Lamb, Brock Bokamper, Robert Brooks Spoon II, Dan Smith and Coburn Veal.
