Larry Wayne DAVIS

Tonkawa I O O F Cemetery

Larry Wayne Davis
June 26, 1942 - June 9, 2026

Larry Wayne Davis of Tonkawa, Ok was called home late Tuesday evening, June 9, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. He had once said he wished to live until he was 84 years old, and to honor this, the family gathered to sing Happy Birthday. After each family member was able to say their goodbyes, he serenely departed this world.

Larry was born June 26, 1942 in Winfield, Kansas to Percy and Edna Davis. On December 2, 1972 Larry married Betty Reints, and they were blessed with three wonderful children who in turn gave them nine grandchildren. His children and grandchildren were his life. He loved spending time with them, or simply visiting with them over the phone.

Larry, a life-long resident of Tonkawa, spent the majority of his years at his farm East of town. In more recent years, he and Betty moved into town due to health reasons. Throughout his life, Larry had many occupations: farming, Blackwell Zinc, oilfield and dozer work, welding Kaw Dam, and CNA work. His ultimate dream, though, was the metal-scrap business. He created his own legacy, and turned the business over to his son upon retirement. Some of his favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, and of course, casino trips. These pass-times led to many stories that he loved to share.

Larry spent many of his days listening to sermons and Bible scriptures through the internet. He did not allow his blindness to stop his pursuit of the Lord. He was a God fearing man who would never hesitate to share the Word with all who would listen. He also enjoyed listening to old country and western songs, which brought him joy and peace. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was loved by many.

Larry is survived by his wife Betty, his children Jeff and wife Mireya, Tracy and husband Richard, and Michelle and husband Jimmy. His grandchildren Hazi Davis, Connor Davis, Tanner Davis, MacKynze Davis, Torrie Simmons, Abigail Simmons, Ashton Linton, SaVannah Linton and Easton Linton. Twin brother Garry Davis and wife Dorothy Davis, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Edna Davis, brother Gordon Davis, sister Nina Lee Flattery, nephews Gordon Davis, Jr and Chris Flattery, and his beloved dog Daisy.

Viewing will be held at Tonkawa Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Tonkawa Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at I.O.O.F Tonkawa Cemetery. Those unable to attend the Funeral Ceremony, may attend virtually on the Trout Funeral Home website, www.troutfuneralhome.com and click on the live-stream or toolbar icon on the top right corner after 1:45 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Tonkawa, 505 Thunderbird Rd, Tonkawa, OK 74653.

Donations can be made in Larry's name to the American Caner Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-3000
