Martin Dominic Steichen passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. He was 90.
Visitation will be from 8am-8pm on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Trout Funeral Home, 505 W. Grand Avenue in Ponca City. A Rosary service will be held at Trout Funeral Home, at 6 pm on Monday, February 19, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ponca City under the direction of Trout Funeral Home with Reverend Carson Krittenbrink officiating.
Martin was born March 8, 1927 in Perry, Oklahoma to Aloysius and Rose Steichen. He married Mildred Patak on October 7, 1950 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry. After their marriage, they moved to Dallas, Texas where they lived for one year before moving to Ponca City, where he engaged in farming and raising a family. He was employed by Kay County on the road crew for a time before beginning a 17 year career with Sober Brothers Sand and Gravel. He opened Steichen Auto Repair and Salvage in 1972, where he worked until his death.
He is survived by sons; Charles and wife Rosemary of Branson West, MO, David and wife Ann, Billy and wife Brenda, and Rick and wife Rhonda, all of Ponca City, daughters; Caroline White, Doris and husband Larry Love, Mary and husband Nick Meyers, all of Ponca City and Charlene and husband Steve Sullivan of De Queen, AR, 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Joan and Richard Welborn of Ponca City and Barbara and Leon Spielbusch of Gilbert, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, one brother, Don, one sister, Lorene Artman, and one great-grandchild, Gabriel Sullivan.
Casket Bearers will be grandsons; Marty Steichen, Clint White, Kevin Sullivan, Scott Sullivan, Nicholas Steichen, Scott Steichen, Ben Steichen, Tate Wichert, and Derek Love.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, 415 South 7th St., Ponca City, OK 74601.

Mildred H Steichen, resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Ponca City Medical Center. She was 84. The Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 2, 2014, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church with Reverend Kevin Ratterman officiating. A rosary service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at 7:00 pm with Deacon Dick Robinson at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mildred was born on January 8, 1930 to Charles C. Patak and Frances (Horak) Patak in Ennis, Texas. She was married to Martin Steichen on October 7, 1950 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry, Oklahoma. They moved to Dallas, TX then relocated to Ponca City, OK, where they were engaged in farming and raising their family. Mildred's legacy is her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and her ability to welcome and feed everyone they drug home.
She is survived by her husband, Martin Steichen of the home. Sons; Charles Steichen and wife, Rosemary of Branson West, MO; David Steichen and wife Ann; Billy Steichen and wife Brenda; Rick Steichen and wife Rhonda all of Ponca City; Daughters, Caroline White;Doris Love and husband Larry; Mary Meyers and husband Nick all of Ponca City, OK. Charlene Sullivan and husband Steve of DeQueen, AR; 23 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 5 sisters: Mary Schrack, Frances Peal, Cecilia Severin, Henrietta Burkhart, Catherine Heilman, 3 brothers: Frank, George and Charlie all from out of town and numerous other family members.
Preceded in death by parents, one sister, Agnes Franklin.
Casketbearers will be the Grandsons: Marty Steichen, Clint White, Kevin Sullivan, Scott Sullivan, Nicholas Steichen, Scott Steichen, Ben Steichen, Derek Love, and Tate Wichert.
