Gary Lee Phillips,64, beloved, husband, Dad, Papa and friend went to be with his Heavenly Father on February,12, 2015 in Oklahoma City. He was loved, respected and cherished by family and friends alike.
Gary was born August 24, 1950 to Tom & Ella Phillips and lived in Ponca his entire life. In 1969 he joined the Army and served until 1972.
In June of that year he married the love of his life Beverly Welch. They had three beautiful daughters Christy, Kelli and Kimberly. Always the wonderful provider for his family he worked for over 40 years at Smith Bits/Schlumberger. Gary had numerous hobbies and interest, his favorites being a Ham radio operator, KC5TKB, a storm spotter for Ponca City Emergency Management, the Knights of Columbus and had enjoyment with his wife dancing in the Chikaskia Square Dance Club in his early years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and even strangers. His kind, generous, warm and loving spirit will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly and daughters---Christy Whiles, Kelli Krebs and husband Mike and Kimberly Lewczak and husband Mike. Five grandchildren, who were the light of his life and source of much enjoyment; Alexis Whiles, Jory Sample, Hunter Krebs, Kenni Lewczak and C.J. Lewczak. Brothers and sisters- in-laws Joe & Monica Welch, Bob & Cindy Welch, Patty Welch, Bill Welch and also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Ella, his brother Jim, father- and mother in-law Joe and Lila Welch and son in-law Steven Whiles.
Rosary will be said 7 pm Monday at Grace Memorial Chapel
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 am Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin Ratterman officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Ponca City.
