Gary Allen Meyer
July 15, 1947 - December 16, 2023
Gary Allen Meyer, age 76, long-time Ponca City resident went home to be with his Lord & Savior on December 16, 2023. He was born on July 15, 1947, and was raised on a farm in Red Rock, OK. He graduated Red Rock High School in 1965, and married his high school sweetheart, Sherrille Berry, on July 23, 1966. He worked several jobs before making their home in Newkirk, and they resided there for 28 years. He worked for Rodeo Meats in Ark City, KS, until it was closed down. He then began working for Smith Bits in Ponca City, OK, where he retired after 30 years of service. While working at Smith Bits, they moved to Ponca City in 1997, where he currently resided.
He had a passion for farming, loved being outside and soaking up the sun, mowing on his JD, and going to the casino. Most of all he loved his family and for anyone to come visit him. For those who knew him well, you were given a "special nickname" that will always be with you.
He is survived by: his wife of the home, Sherrille; son, Jeff Meyer and wife, Rhonda, of Ponca City; a daughter, Shelley Spiser and husband, Tom, of Ponca City; son, Greg Meyer and wife, Marcie, of Newkirk; three sisters, Evelyn Berry of Colorado, Norma Haun and husband, Ted, of Ponca City, and Glenda Lockhart of Tonkawa; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and not to forget his 4-legged companion, Lady.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glynn and Agnes Meyer; two brothers, Arthur (Art) Meyer, and Thomas (Tom) Meyer; and a sister, Mary Meyer.
There will be a public viewing at Trout Funeral Home of Ponca City on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 10AM to 2PM. A rosary will be held the same evening at 6:00 pm at Trout Funeral Home of Ponca City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the St Mary's Catholic Church in Ponca City and interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St Mary's Catholic Church at 408 S 8th St, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
