Ferrold Levi Hammock
October 7, 1943 - April 28, 2024

Ferrold Levi Hammock, age 80, of Billings, Oklahoma went to walk the streets of Heaven on April 28, 2024 at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ferrold was born on October 7, 1943 in Ingalls, Oklahoma to Lester and Walcie (Ross) Hammock. He attended school at Drumright, Oklahoma until after his junior year. He decided to come up to Billings and get a job for the summer working harvest. He went to work for Charles and John Peter. After harvest was over, he was going to follow harvest north. John told him if he would stay and get his senior year at Garber, he could stay and work for him on the farm. Ferrold graduated from Garber High School in 1962. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army (Greenland).

He came back to Billings and went to work for Dee Butchee doing dirt work. They helped with the construction of I-35. He went to work for Gene Carter at the filling station where he met Becky. She would ask her parents if they needed anything from town so she could go to get gas at Carter's to meet Ferrold. Gas was 25 cents then. It got to where the other guys figured out what Becky was doing so they stepped back and would tell Ferrold, "There's a customer at the pumps." So the rest is history. After a while, Ferrold went to work for George and Henry Bellmon's farms. He ran the farm for 21 years for Henry while he was serving as Governor and U.S. Senator. After marriage to Becky, they moved out to the old Bellmon farm house where they raised their family. After ending his time at the Bellmon's, he began running wells with Bennie Fairchild while farming for himself. He later started working as a mechanic at Frank Glass Auto Repair. After Frank's retirement, he took over the shop. He also held jobs at Rush Metals, Johnston Grain, Noble County, and for Tony Kodesh.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Becky of Billings, Oklahoma; children, Mark Hammock and his wife Tia of Perry, Oklahoma, Troy Hammock and his wife Julie of Enid, Oklahoma, and Cathy (Cat) Evans and her husband Brandon of Billings, Oklahoma; as well as numerous friends and extended family. Ferrold and Becky have 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Ferrold is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Walcie Hammock; daughter, Crystal Hammock Sanders; great granddaughter, Hattie Ann; brothers, James, Vernon, and Tony; sister, Levonne; in-laws, Carl and Donna Pittman; and brother-in-law, Ty Pittman.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Billings Christian Church with Pat Batchelder officiating. Ferrold will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery, SW of Tonkawa following the service. If you knew Ferrold, I'm sure you know, that his life could have been a book! We would love for you to come with a story to tell at his Celebration of Life! He loved life, his family, and everything in between.
