Illa Ruth Wehr longtime resident of Ponca City, OK passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Ponca City, OK. She was 93 years of age. She was born on February 5, 1923 near Stillwater, OK to Fred A. and Grace (Hall) White. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2016 in the Central Baptist Church of Ponca City with Pastor John Waterloo officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under in Care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City. The family has requested Memorial Contributions be made in her name to Central Baptist Church building fund or North Central Hospice.
She attended Starr Valley Grade School and graduated from Eureka High School in 1940. Both schools were Northeast of Stillwater. She met the love of her life Mervin Lee Wehr and on June 21, 1947 they were married and they made their home in Ponca City, where her husband worked for Continental Oil Company. Illa Ruth was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1942 until her retirement in 1982. She worked in Stillwater until 1947, transferring to Ponca City following her marriage. Illa was a member of Central Baptist Church of Ponca City since 1955 and she leaves behind a wonderful church family.
She is survived by her son; Leon Wehr and wife Maria , nieces; Luella Mae Robinson and Avinell Robinson, nephews and their wives; Dean and Linda Stagner, Jerry and Terry Stagner, Lonny and Pam Stagner and Laile and Julie Stagner. In addition to these are several great Nieces and great nephews.
Illa Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mervin in 1991, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
