Robert Henry Taylor, age 87, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away on January 17, 2018 in Ponca City, Oklahoma after a short fight with leukemia.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Pastor John Waterloo officiating. Honorary casketbearers will be Ponca City Fire Department Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Trout Funeral Home.

Robert was born on February 25, 1930 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Homer and Bette (Grinder) Taylor. He married Virginia E. (Birge) Taylor on December 24, 1949 in Ponca City. They had two children: Roberta Denton and Joyce Hays.

Bob retired from the Ponca City Fire Department in 1983 and from Conoco Security in 1993. He was an EMT, certified open water scuba diver, and Honor Guard with the Ponca City Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling and loved to hunt, fish, and camp. Those fish fries in the backyard with family, friends, and neighbors were his favorite. He took great pride in having the greenest and prettiest yard in the neighborhood.

Bob is survived by his wife, Virginia Taylor, daughters, Roberta Denton and husband Larry and Joyce Hays and husband Ronald, grandchildren: Brent Hays and wife Lisa, Robert Hays and wife Merry, Jonathan Denton and wife Stephanie, brothers, Virgle Taylor and wife Eva and Harold "Gene" Taylor and wife Martha, sister, Norma Osborn, great-grandchildren: Sean Hays, Clayton Hays, Cadence Hays, Katrina Hays, Conner Hays, Blake Denton, and Brandon Denton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Raymond Taylor and Charles (Bill) Taylor.

Memorial donations may be made to RSVP of Ponca City, 319 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601, Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Ave., Ponca City, OK 74601, or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Via Christi and Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.
