Jack Stevenson Snyder, 86, of Ponca City, left his earthly life on July 29, 2020. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 3, 2020, at Eastern Heights Christian Church, with Pastor Mark Berry officiating. He will be laid to rest, with Military Honors, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, August 1, 2020, and from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Trout Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will be present to greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday. Masks are not required, but strongly recommended.
Jack was born on December 30, 1933, in Anadarko, OK, to Hugh Stevenson and Velma Elsie (Perkins) Snyder. Jack grew up in Anadarko, but lived many places during his life. He joined the Army in 1954 and was discharged in 1956. On May 18, 1957, he married the love of his life, Joy Robbins in Miami, OK.
For many years, Jack owned and operated a Borden's Milk Distributing business, retiring in 1990. He then became the Kay County Assessor, retiring in 2000. Jack later received a degree in Theology, and filled in for many churches in the area.
Jack enjoyed working on his 1928 Model A and working in the garden. Jack was member of Eastern Heights Christian Church and very involved with the Mission. He loved reading the Bible. When he could not read as well, he listened to the Bible, everyday, and could quote any verse or scripture. Jack's main purpose in life, was taking care of his beloved wife, whom he loved very much.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; his children, Darlene Hawkins (Garland), Bob Snyder (Ginger), Rhonda Owens (Don), Tom Snyder (Renee); son-in-law, Randy Rouse; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Snyder; sisters, Janice Dooley, Joyce Daniel, Kathy Chidester and other family members.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Rouse.
