Matthew Gordon Saylors passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was 57 years old. A funeral ceremony for Matt will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Ponca City Assembly. Casket bearers will be: Chris Greenhagen, Wayne Lemon, Brian Epperson, Brandon Powers, Neal Brockbank, and Chris Ortiz. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory in Ponca City.
Matt was born in Ponca City on September 27, 1960 to his parents, Cecil and Jo An Saylors. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1978. In 1991, Matt married Kelli Gatlin in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Matt was Vice President of Jo Saylors Sculptures, LTD for many years helping his mother with the sale and logistics of her artwork. After Jo retired, Matt pursued his passion for helping people and went back to school to earn his degree from Northern Oklahoma College. He then enjoyed a successful career as a Laboratory Technician at Newkirk Family Health Center specializing in phlebotomy. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, riding motorcycles, and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. Matt was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, he opened his heart and his home to many people over the years and he will be sorely missed.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by his son, Brandon Saylors of Ponca City, daughter, Tabitha Saylors of Stillwater, step-son, David Walker of Ponca City, step-daughter, Cherie Gatlin of Ponca City, sister, Kara Saylors of Ponca City as well as five grandchildren.
