Doug Lynn Pappan, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away March 16, 2012 in Ponca City at the age of 60 years.
Doug was born December 19, 1951 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Margie Boxley and Jimmie Pappan. He and Katye married July 2, 1984. Doug was a member of the Local Fire Fighters. He served his community for over 25 years in the Ponca City Fire Department. In his younger years Doug attended the Body and Fender School in Sulfur, Oklahoma and then went to work for the City of Ponca body shop. Doug enjoyed mowing and keeping a good lawn. He owned and operated his own mowing service before retiring from the fire department. He was also a member of the local softball league. Dougs other interests included cooking and camping . His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grand children and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Katye of the home 2 sons, Deric Pappan and Amy Gray of Jay, Oklahoma, Keenan and wife Kerri Pappan of Ponca City, Oklahoma 1 daughter, Trayci Thompson of Ponca City, Oklahoma 2 brothers, Don and wife Marti Pappan of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Darrell and wife Tammy Pappan of Pawnee, Oklahoma 1 sister, Debbie Spears of Pawnee, Oklahoma grandchildren, Tyler Pappan, Bladen Thompson, Brennen Bradley, Kinley Pappan, Kolsen Pappan great grandchildren, Mayson and Tessah Pappan brother in law, Wesley and wife Eileen Turner of Gilbert, AZ and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Doug is preceded in death by his first wife, Rhonda Pappan, parents, infant brother, Richard Pappan grand parents, Keenan and Florece Pappan and Zelda Boxley.
Pallbearers to serve will be the Ponca City Fire Department. Honorary Pallbearers include, Tyler Pappan, Kolsen Pappan, Bladen Thompson, Mayson Pappan, Brennen Bradley, Kinley Pappan and Tessah Pappan.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday March 21, 2012 at Ponca City First Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Short officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
