Kelly Ray Nelson, former Tonkawa resident and current Bartlesville resident, passed Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his home in Bartlesville. He was 34 years of age.

Kelly was born June 24, 1976 in Ponca City, the son of Terry Ray Nelson and Linda Kay Haen Nelson. He was a 1994 graduate of Tonkawa High School. He was active in wrestling while attending the Tonkawa Schools. He also attended Northern Oklahoma College of Tonkawa and took votech courses in auto mechanics and stereo installation courses in Oklahoma City.

Kelly was a former member of the Tonkawa First Christian Church where he accepted Jesus as his savior and was baptized. His enjoyments were arrowhead hunting, deer hunting, fishing, working on car stereo equipment, riding motorcycles and his dog Ashley whom he loved deeply. Kelly will be remembered as a dedicated worker and someone who was always willing to help others in their time of need. He was always putting others before himself, even if it meant giving his last dollar. He enjoyed being employed as a pumper for CEJA, taking pride in his work.

He is survived by his parents, Terry and Linda Nelson of Bartlesville one sister, Tarah Lyn Edgar and husband Erik, of Perry, Oklahoma one newborn niece, Emory Mae Edgar his paternal grandmother, Edna Nelson, Ponca City his maternal grandmother, Winnie Mae Haen Young and his grandfather, Leroy Young, of Bartlesville. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Elmer Nelson maternal grandfather, Wayne Haen.

Family and friends may call at Grace Memorial Chapel from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Hospice Chaplain, Rev. Jack Shamburger presiding. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
