C.L. Musgrove Jr., (Muskie) long time Shidler resident, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Ponca City Medical Center. He was 77.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Shidler with Rev. Corby Brizendine, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home. Viewing will be held at Trout Funeral Home on Thursday until 8 p.m. and then beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning at the First Baptist Church in Shidler.
Claude Lester Musgrove, Jr., the son of Claude L. Musgrove Sr. and Alice Pearl Fitzgerald Musgrove, was born on May 16, 1931 in Leon, Kan.
C.L. joined the United States Air Force after high school and proudly served our country. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
On Dec. 18, 1954, C.L. married Mae Thomas in Rose Hill, Va. They moved to Shidler in 1963 with their three daughters. C.L. worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 36 years and completed his career as a Supervisor in the Gas Gathering System. He was a former Toastmaster and a member of the First Baptist Church of Shidler. Muskie enjoyed playing golf, spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and playing pitch at the Shidler Senior Citizen's Center. His sense of humor will be greatly missed in the lives of many.
Family members include his wife Mae, of the home; three daughters, Linda and Jim Kennedy of Aztec, N.M., Lisa and Larry Patton of Shidler, and Anita and Lyle Coe of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Max and Diane Musgrove of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Frances Graham of Irving, Texas; six grandchildren, and four nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen Bruggman and great-grandson, Cody Valencia.
Casket bearers will be Larry Patton, Jim Kennedy, Lyle Coe, Allen Kennedy, Pat Patton and Rick Craig.
Honorary casket bearers will be L.G. Stone, Dean Crain, Dale Battles and Bill Patton.

Mae Musgrove left her worldly home January 11, 2021 to reunite and celebrate with C.L. and other loved family and friends in her heavenly home. In Lee County, Rose Hill, Virginia, on October 31, 1935, Oma Mae Musgrove was brought into this world by Dewey and Ruby Thomas.
Mae and C.L. Musgrove, Jr. were married December 18, 1954 in Rose Hill, Virginia. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before his death in 2008. C.L. and Mae moved from Borger, Texas to Shidler, Oklahoma with their three daughters September 9, 1963. Mae spent most of her life as a homemaker. She worked for the Shidler Review typing and putting the weekly newspaper together. She worked at the Senior Citizens Center as a Bookkeeper and Treasurer for 21 years. In 2003 Mae was awarded the Senior Citizen of the Year.
Mae enjoyed attending her children and grand children’s sporting events, piano recitals, dance recitals and church events.
Mae is survived by three daughters: Linda and Jim Kennedy of Aztec, New Mexico, Lisa and Larry Patton of Shidler, Oklahoma and Anita and Lyle Coe of Jacksonville, Florida, one brother, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, two sisters, and one great grandchild.
Mae will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Those wanting to make a donation in her memory may do so to the Shidler Senior Citizens Center, PO Box 192, Shidler, OK 74652.
