Shirley M. Meadows, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Friday,
July 18, 2008 at the Ponca City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center with her
children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at her side. She was 73.
Shirley was born July 25, 1934 in Ponca City, the daughter of Lee Harvey Hicks
and Helen Bernice Cline Hicks. She received her education and resided most of
her life in Ponca City. She had lived in various locations around the country
that included Odessa, Texas, Lakewood, California and Alva, Oklahoma. Shirley
was retired from Smith International.
She married Gordon Meadows in March 1952, and to this union was born eight
children.
Shirley was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene and her enjoyments were
her children, grandchildren, working crossword puzzles and reading.
She is survived by four daughters, Debby Fleharty and husband, Dave, Sandy Elam
and husband, Mike, Pamela Luis and husband, David, and Tammy Rogers and husband,
Tony; three sons, Gordon Meadows and wife, Cindy, Rick Meadows and wife, Fran,
and Randy Meadows and wife, Teresa; 19 grandchildren, Christie Meadows Gordon,
Michael Meadows, Ritchie Meadows, Jason Meadows, David Fleharty, Heather
Fleharty Chavez, Jamie Girdner, Dale Meadows, Cory Meadows, Randi Luis Higgins,
Tori Luis Stafford, Kodi Luis, Joey Luis, Gage Luis, Toby Meadows, Amanda
Rogers, Tim Rogers, Steve Rogers, and Tony Rogers; 12 great grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Jody Rae Meadows and one
brother, Clinton Heldenbrand.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Resthaven
Memorial Park Cemetery with Mike Sweetman presiding. Arrangements are under the
direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
