Dean Jay McGill, age 51, of Sherwood, Arkansas, entered Heaven on June 15, 2006 following a brief illness.
He was born in Oklahoma City on November 26, 1954 to Johnny and Florence McGill. They soon moved to Marvell, Arkansas where Dean and his twin brother Gene attended public schools. Dean played football in high school and helped lead Marvell High School to many victories. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and was a member of the football team until an injury forced him to leave the team. Dean proudly served in the United States Army.
Dean worked at a variety of jobs over the years, the most rewarding as a paramedic on the Rescue Squad in Oklahoma City for 17 years. He also worked as an off-shore welder, police officer, was manager at several grocery and convenience stores, and a hotel manager in California in his younger years. He worked for a courier company before becoming disabled due to severe back problems. His hobbies included motorcycles, video and card games and playing pool.
Dean married Sarah Kelley Klinger in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 18, 1995. Together they enjoyed life to the fullest. A practical joker and good-natured tease, he loved to laugh and made many friends with his caring, generous, and loving heart. Although he was in severe pain for at least 8 years, he remained cheerful and relied on his faith in God and his wife’s love to get him through each day. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles, his father-in-law Jim Kelley of Ponca City, and his best friend Michael Laughlin of Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife Sarah; twin brother Gene McGill and his wife Sharon of Mayfield, KY; brother Johnny McGill and his wife Vicki of Frankfurt, Germany and son Sean McGill of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother Jerry McGill and his wife Cindy of Paducah, KY and their daughter Brooke; sister Gayla Miller and her husband Tony of Hemphill, TX; step-daughter Cristin Martin and her husband Lee of Sand Springs, OK; step-son David Klinger of Tulsa; two step-granddaughters, Ashley Martin and Kylie Martin of Sand Springs, OK; mother-in-law Norma Lee Kelley of Yukon, OK; sister-in-law Nancy Peer and her husband JD of Mustang, OK; niece Jennifer Combs and her husband Michael and niece Jessica Hesseltine and her husband Kirk, all of Oklahoma City; nephew Sgt. Joel Peer and his wife Amanda of Hanau, Germany; three aunts, Dean’s mother’s twin sister Cricket Grider of Marvell, Arkansas, Daisy Walls of Searcy, Arkansas, and Hazel Hopper of Oklahoma City; and special family friend, Herb Hale of Blackwell.
Visitation will be Monday, June 19, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood, Arkansas at a later date.

Sarah McGill, former resident of Sands Springs, OK passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021. She was 68.
Sarah Lee McGill was born December 19th, 1952 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Jim and Norma Kelley. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1970. Sarah married Cris Klinger in 1971 and had two children, Cristin and David. Sarah was the Mother’s Day Out Director for the First United Methodist Church then had a position with Camp Fire, Inc. as well as a Camp Fire leader. She was very found of her time spent with all involved in the Camp Fire organization. Sarah enjoyed the outdoors and camping. Sarah was a Cherokee citizen and loved Indian artwork and studying about her Indian heritage.
Sarah moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 and worked for the State of Arkansas as an Administrative Assistant. She also met and married her second husband, Dean McGill in Arkansas in 1995 Until his death in 2006. She relocated to Sand Springs, Ok to be closer to her family.
Sarah was a member of the Church of Christ and was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. She worked for Enterprise Holdings until her health forced an early retirement in 2012. Sarah was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she endured a very long journey fighting the disease. Her final 6 months were spent under the care of Emerald Memory Care Center in Claremore, Oklahoma. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Norma Kelley and her husband Dean McGill. Sarah is survived by her sister Nancy Peer and her husband JD, daughter Cristin Martin and her husband Lee, son David Klinger, granddaughters, Ashley and Kylie Martin and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Trout Funeral Home, from 11a.m. to time of service on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home Chapel with private family burial following the service. Those unable to attend the Funeral Ceremony may attend virtually on the Trout Funeral Home website, www.troutfuneralhome.com and click on the live-stream or toolbar icon on the top right corner after 1:45 PM.
