Christine Chris McCeary, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was 56 years of age.
Chris was born March 4, 1954 at Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of K.C. Smith and Ruth Lucille Yandell Smith. She was a 1972 graduate of Fairfax High School. She then earned an Associate Degree from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. She was married to Dennis McCeary on August 24, 1973 in Fairfax. Chris had been employed as an accounting clerk with ConocoPhillips. Chris had a love for all sports and had participated in softball, bowling, basketball and had recently taken up golf alongside her husband. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers and being outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis, of the home her mother, Lucille Smith and her sister, Julia Smith, both of Fairfax. She was preceded in death by her father her paternal grandparents, Kimball and Lou Smith and her maternal grandparents, Charles Edward and Ovie Yandell.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. George Weston of Fairfax presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
