PONCA CITY, Okla. -- Billy Thomas McClelland, a resident of Ponca City, Okla., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at his home. He was 78.
The funeral was held Saturday at First Assembly of God Church, Ponca City, with the Revs. Micah Wells and Don Stanton presiding. Interment was at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Billy was born Nov. 10, 1926, at Three Sands, Okla., the son of William R. and Minnie Pearl Emmons McClelland.
He lived at Naval Reserve, Osage Indian Reservation in Osage County until the age of seven, moving to Ponca City in 1933. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1944. He went to work for Continental Oil Company after graduating.
He served two and a half years in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Japan with the 11th Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He returned to Conoco and retired in 1985 after 42 years of employment. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Wanda Lou Nash in January of 1949. From this union two daughters, Terry and Paula, were born.
He then married Bessie Beth Veda Shaw Crain on April 7, 1978, in Ponca City.
He is survived by his wife, Beth, of the home; two daughters, Terry Olsen and husband Paul, Pratt, and Paula Williams and husband Steve, Stillwater, Okla; three stepdaughters, Sharon Kay White and husband Steve, Donita Raylene Lawrence and husband Jerry and Veda Arlene Grose and husband Stephen, all of Ponca City; one stepson, Cecil Steven Crain and wife Sue, Vinita, Okla.; two brothers, Robert "Bob" McClelland and wife Sharon, Estero, Fla., and Charles McClelland and wife Janice, Ponca City; one sister, Carolyn Jean Barry and husband Bob, Estero, Fla.; grandchildren, Britton Woods and wife Tara, Edmond, Okla., Cory Thomas Williams and wife Shannon, Oklahoma City, and Courtney Olsen, Port Melbourne, Australia; eight step-grandchildren; Misty, Stephanie, Shelly, Kimberley, Donnie, Shawn, Shannon and Robbie; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; five nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Casket bearers were James Thurber, Bob Christensen, Jim Greenhagen, Gene Thomas, Bill Ramsey and Bill Popplewell. Honorary casket bearers were Britton Woods, Cory Thomas Williams and Courtney Olsen.

Bessie BETH Veda Shaw Crain McClelland, 85, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Beth was born on October 29, 1926 in Pawnee to William and Rose Shirley Shaw. Beth was a lifelong area resident. A longtime member of Faith Tabernacle Church where she ran the food closet for many many years. She was a homemaker, loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. She married Don Crain on Jan 12, 1944. To this union 4 children were born. She then married Bill McClelland in April of 1978. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2005.
Along with her parents and husband Bill, Beth was also preceded in death by 1 daughterDonita Lawrence, 4 Sisters Fern Day, Ann McCullah, Velma Davis, Shirley Carillo, 3 Brothers Lyle Shaw, Fredrick Shaw and Bert Shaw, SonInLaw Steve White. 1 Great GrandchildKirsten Crain.
Beth is survived by her 3 Loving children and their spouses Sharon Crain White of Ponca City, Veda Crain Grose and Steve of Ponca City, Steve Crain and Sue of Owasso, grandchildren and spouses Shelly White Fields and Ray, Shannon White Robinson and Mike, Misty Brownfield, Stephanie Grose, Donnie Grose and Sandy, Robbie Grose and Kyla Wilkins, Kim Crain Seratte and Anthony, Steve Crain and Melissa, Great Grandkids Derika, Danielle, Josh, Bryanna Jeffrey, Josh, Devyn, Anthony, Ariel and Zachary, Krystyna, Samantha, James, Tyson, Riley and Raven. Great Great Grandkids Stephen Jaedyn, Noah and Zachary. 1 Sister Helen Belcher of Ponca City, 1 special Niece Frances Belcher Waddell, several other Nieces and a Nephew.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, December 27. 2011 at the Faith Tabernacle Church with Pastor Don Stanton officiating.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
