Allison Jones was welcomed into God's choir of angels Monday, on January 4th 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Care is under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of her life will be held 2 PM on Thursday, January 6th at Resthaven Memorial Park with Mark Busch officiating. Allison will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park following the service. For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be live streamed. She had been hospitalized with Covid for eleven days and succumbed to the disease after a valiant fight. She was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma on July 7, 1975 to Lindsay and Sharon (Girk) Jones. She was raised in Ponca City. Allison graduated from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa with a bachelor's in Psychology. She worked as a homemaker for a few years and then became a child welfare specialist at the Department of Human Services working tirelessly to help children in some of the worst circumstances. She later opened a home-based daycare and provided doting and thoughtful care for several children in the community for many years.
Allison had a big heart and a deep faith in Jesus which she put into action through her work with children. She made it a point to say "Yes" whenever God asked her to step forward and help those in need. Through her work with DHS she helped hundreds of children and families. She provided transportation, supervised parent/child visits, took children to counseling and doctor appointments and other tasks needed. Allison grew in her DHS role and was assigned to assist families with the reunification process after a child had been removed from the home, finding how to correct the conditions that led to the removal. Her focus was on keeping the children safe and if a child was not able to return home, Allison would then assist in the process of finding the child a forever home. Allison also assisted with the Teen program at DHS, a specifically difficult population. Allison was very attentive with her families and children and was loved by all.
One friend can make all the difference in your life, and for many of you Allison was that friend. Through her deep roots in the community she touched hundreds more lives; sometimes with a positive thought, an expression of concern, or with every bit of her time, talent, and treasure she could muster. She had a sweet and sometimes shy disposition, but she was a kind and determined person who worked to make her place in the world better and brighter for all around her. About Allison: "Not one of my memories was Allison mad, upset or not smiling!"
Every person makes their own place in their family, and Allison's place in our family was a shining beacon of care and faith and loving kindness. We should all take comfort in the outpouring of sympathy and prayers and kindness for Allison, who we all loved so much. She will be forever missed; but the legacy of her kindness and care will live on through the many lives she touched and through the hearts of all of us who were blessed to know her.
Allison is survived by her two sons, Blain, and Desmond, and her mother, Sharon Jones, all of Ponca City, and a brother Todd Jones and his family of Dallas, Texas. Preceding in death was her father, Lindsay John Jones of Ponca City.
Honorary casket bearers are Christy Hickman, Allison Abel Allensworth, AnitaRei Dutton, and Julie Pederson McQueen.
