Charlotte Chloe Hutson, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at her home. She was 76.

Charlotte was born September 16, 1933 in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Milo Smith and Doris Stultz Smith. She moved with her family to the Ponca City area at a young age where she received her early education. She was married to Bud Hutson on February 1, 1947 in Winfield, Kansas with the couple establishing their home in Ponca City.

Charlotte had been employed 38 years with Mels Clothing Store of Ponca City and retired in 1996 as the store manager. Her enjoyments included camping, quilting, needlework gardening, yard work, her fish pond and travelling that included many trips to Branson, Missouri.

She is survived by her companion of 14 years, John Compton her children, Will Hutson of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Linda Burgell and husband, Joel, of Ponca City, and Terry Hutson and wife, Martha, of Ponca City John E. Compton, Denver, Colorado, Katy Nichols and husband, Jerry, Green Forest, Arkansas, Judy Compton, Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Richard Compton and wife, Holly, Newkirk, Oklahoma, Anita Harmon, West Plains, Missouri and Marie Shaw and husband, Kenny, Yukon, Oklahoma one sister, Laveda Gubanski, and husband, Sonny, North Little Rock, Arkansas 6 grandchildren, Amy Clark and husband, Scott, April Martin and husband, Brent, Brian Hoffman, Terry Hutson Jr. and wife, Michelle, Lisa Jones and husband, Rick, and Matt Hutson 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. On the Compton side of the family there are also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Bud, on September 18, 1998 2 brothers, Pat Smith and Martin Smith and 2 sisters, Patsy Smith and Marie Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tom Howard presiding, assisted by Rev. Braunel Richie. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
