Madeline G. Hunt, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Shawn Manor Nursing Center. She was 87 years of age.

Madeline was born March 25, 1924 in Ponca City, the daughter of Fred O. Nelson and Minnie Eaton Nelson. She attended the Burbank and McCord schools before graduating from Ponca City High School. She was married to Henry Allen Hunt on April 20, 1946 in Ponca City. Her enjoyments included her family, sewing, crocheting, bowling, attending craft shows and her cats.

She is survived by her four children, Peggy Sue Shaw, of Ponca City, Henry Hunt Jr. of Panama City Beach, Florida, Kevin Hunt and wife, Lisa, of Ponca City, and Julia Thomas and husband Rick, of Ponca City one sister, Geraldine Headley of Wellington, Kansas one brother, Leon Nelson of Oklahoma City six grandchildren, Paton Shaw and wife, Robyn, Christie Krajewski and husband, Dan, Chance Hunt and wife, Mandy, Kortnie Lee and husband, Tanner, Lindsey Bastemeyer and husband, Michael, and Brandon Thomas four great grandchildren, Hunter, Conner, Ella Grace and Evan. She was preceded in death by her parents husband and two brothers, Elmer Nelson and Freddie Nelson.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with Pioneer Bible Church Pastor Larry Harris presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
